Switch ‘N’ Shoot is Coming to Murray, Kentucky

I felt like I was about to burst waiting to share this with y’all.

Switch ‘N’ Shoot, published by DSM Arcade, is a unique arcade title boasting only one button. Pressing it accomplishes two things simultaneously: switching your ship’s direction and shooting a bullet at oncoming enemies. It’s easy to learn, yet difficult to master.

The game will debut in the commonwealth of Kentucky at Know-a-Guy, a video game/clothing store on North 16th Street in Murray. I chose that location first and foremost to get an actual video game there – because I currently only have a mini-crane – and because I genuinely believe it will be an ideal place to play.

Let me put it this way: If you already like video games, especially retro ones, I’d wager Switch ‘N’ Shoot will scratch a similar itch. That being said, it’s NOT an old-school release; it's coming directly from the developer.

Switch ‘N’ being foreign to this area is not lost on me. Part of my intent with Wilcox Arcade was to provide convenient access to coin-operated machines never before found in my stomping grounds of western Kentucky, and this one certainly does the trick. Playing it will feel fresh — and obviously fun, too.

I’ll also host a launch event for Switch ‘N’ Shoot, during which I’ll demo the experience to curious players. Better yet, I’ll hand out one-inch Wilcox Arcade pins to the first 25 paying players – and a Wilcox Arcade trucker hat to the first player to earn 300 points.

Yeah, I’m buttering you up, but that’s because Wilcox Arcade parties in style. I’ll share the exact details of when the game will arrive once I have (A) heard an update from DSM Arcade or (B) received tracking information from Fastenal.

This is the kind of stuff of which I’ve dreaming since I was literally 15-years-old: having the means to buy my very own indie arcade game and to put it somewhere within my favorite region of the United States. Life is going well, man.

It goes without saying — but should be said anyway — that I’m immensely grateful to Dan Fessler of DSM Arcade for selling me some modern hardware here. By doing so, he has directly contributed to my dream of taking over western Kentucky.

Me getting married in April could slow my progress simply due to my dollar being stretched thinner than ever, but you wouldn’t catch ME complaining about that. Marriage was, like, the number one thing I was seeking in this world, even beyond running a route of coin-operated equipment. (My fiancée will like this part of the article I think.)
