Wilcox Arcade is Now at Basement Bar Collectibles in Benton, KY

Brace yourself for some pretty enormous news I completely forgot to share on my blog: The Wilcox Arcade route has expanded into Basement Bar Collectibles in Benton, Kentucky.

On September 4th, 2024, I dropped Tekken 2 — purchased from Hunter’s Arcade House and Sales — as the first of many machines to come. Owner James Dismore and I are committed to stocking a full game room as time goes on — just like the good ol’ days at the Main Street Tavern in Hopkinsville.

(Technically, a candy machine was the first thing I placed at the venue on August 20th, albeit I recognize that sounds a little less exciting than an actual video game.)

The next cabinet coming to Basement Bar Collectibles — most likely on October 19th — is Gauntlet Dark Legacy, which I bought from the owner of High Score Saloon. James was pretty stoked when he found that one on Facebook Marketplace.

My goal now is to grow as quickly as possible, because I’m consciously putting myself in the position to…well, work for myself. As unfortunate as it may have been when the COVID-19 kneecapped my business in Hopkinsville, I’ve never been one to throw in the proverbial towel in the face of adversity.

Sadly, there is a third game I haven’t been able to bring to Basement Bar Collectibles due to a technical issue: Skycurser. The software is stuck is some sort of boot loop, and the solution is currently evading me.

Buying other machines in the interim has also bought me time to address said issue, and I’m happy with how things are shaping up. It’s also granted me more opportunities to make commercials for the Wilcox Arcade YouTube channel, as you can see from how I promoted the arrival of Tekken 2 last month.

All in all, I’m immensely grateful to James Dismore for allowing me into his establishment. It’s something I had been asking his wife about for months prior, as she handles the day-to-day operations while he’s out, until my lucky break came in August.
